We are sat in the living room, the five of us together groaning about being awake so early. We have a long journey ahead of us, in 30 minutes we will get picked up by a taxi that will take us to Luton Airport, from there we will fly to Iasi Airport in Romania and there we will be picked up by Lotus, our host, and dropped at our hotel.
2:21am
Our flight has just been cancelled. Our tutor is trying desperately to find alternatives, but after a couple of hours of chaotic communication through groupchats and phone-calls it is clear there is no solution right now and the best we can do is get some sleep. I must admit, I felt very disheartened, as there was no clear solution at the time it felt as though the whole trip might get cancelled and I didn’t want to miss out on such a unique opportunity. It was difficult in the situation not to feel disappointed, however I came to the understanding that we were all in the same situation and it was well out of our control.

Good news, alternative flights have been booked and we will be flying tomorrow evening!

2nd December, 2024
And so the adventure begins ….
Upon first impressions, it was very cold and misty, which only added to the sense of mystery and wonder I was already feeling. We were picked up by our host, Lotus, and winding our way up the narrow, quiet roads of Iasi, I felt as though I was in another world! Once at the hotel we were given our rooms, my friend Josh and I headed quickly inside to get warm and settle into our room we would be sharing for the next few days. With all the excitement of the day it was difficult to relax, but I was glad with how content and comfortable I felt as this was the day I had been so nervous for. I am overwhelmed with excitement for the rest of the week.
